BESS become an integrated component of renewable generation portfolios

The incorporation of energy storage systems allows to mitigate system operation risks of the wind farms. BESS strengthen the flexibility of a portfolio of clean electricity generation assets, thus supporting the decarbonization of the energy mix.

Supporting Chile's transition to renewable energy

Chile aims to generate 80% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030, and has a challenging grid topology that requires electricity to be transported along a narrow north-south corridor. The Araucanía region, in particular, suffers from draught and needs to reduce its historical reliance on hydroelectric power.

A combination of local solar, wind, and storage will allow the region to rely on decarbonized electricity without having to rely on the overburdened transmission line that crosses the country.
